What Are Cookies?

A “cookie” is a small file that is stored on your computer’s hard drive or your mobile device while you are browsing a website. Cookies are used by nearly all websites, and do not harm your system.

Cookies allow information to be passed from one page of a website to another. This is very important in ensuring the website works properly.

Cookies are also used to track your browser’s website browsing history. They do not, however, record your personal information.

You can normally alter the settings of your browser to prevent acceptance of cookies. Please note that restricting or blocking cookies will impact on the functionality of Aviation Photo Gallery Blog, and it will not work properly.

Types Of Cookies

First-Party Cookies

First-Party Cookies are created by the website the user is visiting.

Third-Party Cookies

Third-Party Cookies are created by a website with a domain name other than the one the user is currently visiting.

Session Cookies

Session Cookies are only stored on your computer during your web session. They are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. They usually store an anonymous session ID allowing you to browse a website without having to log in to each page. They do not collect any information from your computer.

Websites typically use session cookies to ensure that you are recognised when you move from page to page within one site, and that any information you have entered is remembered. Without a cookie, every time you open a new web page the server where that page is stored will treat you like a completely new visitor. For example, if an e-commerce site did not use session cookies then items placed in a shopping basket would disappear by the time you reach the checkout.

Persistent Cookies

Persistent Cookies remain on your computer when you close your web browser. The cookie can be read by the website that created it when you visit that website again. Aviation Photo Gallery Blog use persistent cookies for Google Analytics (see section on Google Analytics).

You can manage or block the cookies set by Aviation Photo Gallery Blog, or any other website, should you wish to do so. You can do this through your browser settings, using the Help function within your browser. Even if you have consented to accept cookies, you can withdraw your initial consent at any time.
